In November 2020, in the midst of the UK’s second lockdown, we launched our first ever Newsletter. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

We wanted something that could be read offline as well as online, so we had 5000 copies printed and, with the help of volunteers, distributed it directly through letterboxes in our local area.

It was quite a task, organising volunteers to make sure we didn’t double up on streets to deliver, but the joy of getting out and about, pounding or local streets with something meaningful and worthwhile to share quickly overcame all the logistical niggles.

Communication is vital if we want to see our neighbourhoods joined up and connected. Being able to share stories and information and even a good gossip over the garden fence is just part of our humanity.

And being able to share positivity, hope, encouragement and an open welcome to everyone in our neighbourhood is by far our most preferred use ofThe Village Posts, both online and off.
